The carnival parade is a lot of fun for children and adults. The parade starts in the palm trees street and slowly makes it way to the square and then to the Archaeological museum. Judges sit in Argostoli square and announce the winner of around 400 euro which helps towards the costumes.

The carnival is time when local politics and controversial issues are graphically displayed. Argostoli's Drapano brige has been closed as it has been deemed unsafe. Here the locals have made a float depicting the famous landmark obelisk making fun of delay in rebuilding the local bridge.
