The island of Meganisi is north of Kefalonia and 4 nautical miles from Nidri on the island of Lefkas. The port of Vathi , is served daily by a ferry from Nidri.
The island was originally purchased by the famous shipping magnate, Livanos, who was father of Aristotle Onassis' first wife Tina. Skorpidi lies north of Skorpios.
SPARTI
A tiny island north of Skorpidi, this one is owned by the Onassis family. When Aristotle was alive he used this island as a game farm and said that if he had no grandchildren, he would use the island for disadvantaged children. On the island of Sparti, Onassis began building a resort with an airport for island hopping jet setters. This was planned for his son Alex, who was a pilot, but all plans were halted after his son died in an aeroplane accident.
VARDIANI
This is the island near XI beach which can be seen from Lassi. You can take a boat trip from Argostoli on Captain Makis' Glass Bottom Boat which will stop at Vardiani island or take a rowing boat from XI beach as it is only 500 metres from there. Vardiani island is also known as rabbit island as they are the only inhabitants.
DOUHALION
Homer's island of Asteris, lies between the North East coast of Kefalonia and the island of Ithaca. Was it here that Penelope's suitors laid in wait to attack Telemachus, the son of Odysseus?
Olympic Airways operate 3 times a week flights from Kefalonia to Corfu. The air-sea plane offers flights between the islands and a service to Patras, where an onward ferry service operates to Sami, taking just over two hours.
