Ithaca Greece

It's easy to hop over to Ithaca for the day, by taking an early ferry from the port of Sami, on the East coast of Kefalonia. The quickest route is from Sami to Pisaetos where you will need a taxi to take you into the nearest town - and capital of the island of Ithaca - Vathy.

An alternative ferry route takes you from Sami into the picturesque harbour of Vathy.

Traditional wooden caique boats offer cruises from Sami to Ithaca and from Ithaca to Kefalonia a few times a week.

There is a water taxi service from Sami to Ithaca.

From Aghia Efimia the Yellow Boats offer a water taxi service to Ithaca.

From Aghia Efimia there is a choice of cruise boats which run cruises weekly around the island of Ithaca.

You can take your car with you on the car-ferry to Ithaca from Sami. Always check with the car hire company that the car is also covered by insurance once it leaves the island of Kefalonia.

In the summer season a small car and passenger ferry operates a circular route departing from Nidri on Lefkas and calling at Frikes on Ithaca, Fiscardo on Kefalonia and Vassiliki on Lefkas. As the ferry timetable is changeable it is best to check locally for accurate timings.
