The Town hall and offices of the municipality of Livatho are situated in some attractive buildings which were once private residences for the teachers of the local school. Now fully renovated they are in a tree-lined avenue close to the centre of the village.
The mayor of Livathos can perform civil wedding ceremonies at Keramies town hall which makes an ideal setting close to the church of Ayios Vasilios

The pretty village of Keramies has a style of its own with some interesting history and unusual architecture.

The central village square is in front of the primary school and the Valianou high school and is dominated by the church belltower.

Also to be found within the village is the doctor's surgery and a couple of local tavernas.

The village takes its name originally from the tradition of making ceramics. It is also well known as the birthplace of three Vallianos brothers from a wealthy ship owning family engaged in trading and shipping of wheat from Russia in the 19th century who were philanthropists contributing to various public facilities.
The family name lives on not just in the local Keramies High School but the brothers made a bequeath for funding the construction of the National Library of Vallianiou in Athens.
The remains of the national benefactors' house are still to be found in the village.
