One of the most spectacular beaches in Kefalonia is to be found at Petani, on the Lixouri peninsula. After following the signs to Lixouri from the main Argostoli to Fiscardo road, the road turns into a single track winding through picturesque rural villages and countryside, before coming to the head of a dramatic gorge. Here you can look down at the stunning aquamarine sea of Petani. It's a wonderfully relaxed and peaceful place for a stress free holiday, although through the month of August, the beach can start to get busy.
Petani is an ideal location for a beach lover's holiday and the beach, which is a mix of sand, shingle and pebbles, is a great attraction. There are just two tavernas on the beach at Petani. More can be found in nearby villages of Voukes, Kontinara and Vilatoria which are all a few kilometres away. The main town on the Pali peninsula is Lixouri which is 14 kilometres away.
