TRAPEZAKI AND LITHERO

From Argostoli, 30 mins drive along the south coast brings you to the area of Trapezaki.

The sandy coves are to be found before the long sandy stretch of beach at Lourdas.

Trapezaki is a village in a rural setting on a hillside. There are only a few tavernas and a couple of mini-markets in the area. The nearest village with supplies and bakery is a few minutes' drive away at Mousata. The resort of Lourdas is close by with a greater selection of ameneties. It is a beautiful stretch of countryside and perfect for rambling. Walkers will enjoy rambling through the countryside and finding the local tracks, which take you to either Karavados and the beach at Aghios Thomas or along the road to the village of Lourdata.

At the far end of the main Trapezaki beach, close to Lourdas, is the stretch of coastline known as Lithero. Here you will find a peaceful stretch of sandy beach with a local taverna. A short walk along this beach brings you to the busier beach of Lourdas.

If you are staying in Trapezaki and do not want to spend all your time on the beaches, there is plenty to explore nearby. The monasteries of Saint Andreas and Saint Gerasimos can be visited in one day which can include the castle of Saint George for panoramic views of the Livatho area.

You may also like to visit the Sisia monastery which is situated on the road towards Skala.

Nearest beach with motor-boat hire is at the resort of Lourdas where you can hire motor-boats by the the day.

From the local port of Pessada close to Trapezaki you can take the ferry to Zakynthos which leaves early in the morning from the port and returns in the evening.

Tavernas in Trapezaki are mainly to be found on the road which runs from the Trapezaki cross road towards Lourdas

There are also some tavernas on the road from Mousata village down towards Trapezaki beach

The Trapezaki Bay Hotel has a restauraunt and bar offering lovely sea views above Trapezaki beach and it is open to non-residents.
