Katavothres and Karavomilos

Katavothres, is 3 kilometres outside Argostoli along the Fanari road and the name, meaning swallow holes, describes the beginning of a peculiar geological phenomenon.

Kounopetra

The ex-rocking rock of Kounopetra is located off the south of Lixouri on the Paliki peninsula, where a large rock can be seen sticking out of the sea. Its constant rhythmic rocking was a unique geological phenomenon until the 1953 earthquake stabilized the rock's bed and the rock ceased to rock!
