Almyra Hotel in Fiscardo

The Almyra Hotel is just one km from the lovely beach of Emblissi and about ten minutes walk from the harbour of Fiscardo.

The pool, terrace, restaurant and bar areas of this quality hotel are so impressive and generously sized, first time guests could easily belive the Almyra has far moe than 27 guest rooms.

There are 17 rooms, 8 deluxe rooms and 2 suites, all of which have air-conditioning and heating with lovely views across the sea to Ithaca.

The rooms are as impressive as the public areas. The regular rooms are larger than average and the deluxe rooms and suites are even bigger. All are suitably furnished for a hotel of this quality, incuding a small fridge to keep drinks cool - a particularly helpful touch.

The setting enhances the Almyra even further, with lovely views across the green hills and out to sea.

The hotel has a restaurant which is open three times a week for evening meals. Breakfasts are served buffet-style. There is usually a BBQ evening held at the Almyra once a week. Pool bar is open for snacks throughout the day.

The freshwater swimming pool is 15 x 7 m with a depth of 1.0 - 2.1. There is a children;s pool 3.9 in diameter with a depth of 0.5

It is a ten minute walk from the hotel to the harbour where the majority of Ficardo's retaurants may be found. One of the most popular of these is run by the family of the Almyra's owner, Polychronis. His sister, Tassia, has published a cookery book and features on a television series.

Fiscardo is one of the few villages on Kefalonia left intact after the earthquakes of 1953 and is everything that you could imagine an Ionian harbour village to be. Strict conservation laws have preserved an array of original Ventian and Venetian style buildings, attractively decorated in pastels and white. These buildings are spread across two small bays leading to the stunning harbour. A stroll around the village will take you through winding alleyways, past the church and down to the focal point of the village, with its attractive selection of restaurants, shops and bars that stretch along the harbourside.
