Driving from Kefalonia Airport to Evreti Artemis

Back to Top of Page Before you set off

Before you set off, we would like to remind you of the following:
￿ You should carry your driver's licence, passport and car hire contract with you at all times.
￿ Seatbelts must be worn. Children under ten must travel in the rear seats.
￿ Local drivers do not usually bother with indicators so be prepared for sudden manoeuvres! If an oncoming driver flashes at you, that means he intends to keep moving and you should stop (that is, the opposite of the meaning in the UK).
￿ Finally and most importantly, the Greeks drive on the right!

Back to Top of Page Driving through Lassi resort

From the airport gates, follow the road for 0.7km until the T-junction. Turn left, towards Argostoli. This road will take you through the village of Minies. After passing the White Rocks Hotel (4.9km) you will drive though the resort of Lassi, which is lined with tavernas and mini-markets. As you leave Lassi you will pass the Kokolis Travel & (& Agni Travel) office on the right (6.8km). Shortly after this on the left you will see the Dolphin Supermarket.

Back to Top of Page Outskirts of Argostoli and around the lagoon

At the top of the hill after you round a bend, take the right turn with a sign for Skala and Poros, there is an AVIN petrol station just around the corner (7.5km). Take care here as there is a road emerging from the right just before this turning. Follow this new road to the end (approx 1.4km) where there is a T-junction with another AVIN petrol station on the left. Turn left and continue to the next junction where the road forks round a hedged traffic island. Take the right fork. (9.3km)
Follow this road passing the sports stadium on your left. You will see a sign indicating that you are leaving Argostoli (it has a red line through the name) and 300 metres after this, move into the filter lane for the left turn at the traffic lights, signposted Fiscardo (Φισκάρδο) Take this left turn.

Back to Top of Page Around the Lagoon and view of Argostoli

You are now travelling around the Koutavos Lagoon. Follow this road passing a small cement works on the left. At approximately 12.8km there are two right hand turns on the brow of a hill ￿ please take care here. Continue ahead until you come to a T-junction where there is a stop sign. Turn right signposted Agia Efimia, Lixouri & Fiscardo. You will shortly pass the British and Greek Cemeteries on your right, immediately after these the road forks. Bear left, following the sign to Lixouri & Fiscardo.

Back to Top of Page Driving towards Myrtos and Fiscardo

Follow the coastal road, through the village of Farsa for approximately 15km, when you will come to a signpost for Lixouri & Aghia Kyriaki but continue on the main road.
After 25km from Argostoli, you will reach the village of Divarata. Here the road divides. Follow the sign directing left, towards Fiscardo. Take care on this road as it narrows through Divarata village and follow the signs to Fiscardo (not to Myrtos beach).
A hazard to look out for all the way up the coast are stray goats, which regularly wander into the road!

Back to Top of Page Village en route to Fiscardo

Fiscardo is approximately 24km from Divarata (Myrtos) village. Follow the coast road past Assos and through several small villages including Vassilikades (where the nearest petrol station is based).
Vassilikades village starts with the taverna Veggera on the left and ends with a general store on the left with a clocktower. Now you enter the village of Konidarata. Towards the end of the village of Konidarata on the right is a general grocery and greengrocer￿s store. This is your last shop before arriving at the Artemis property and it may be worth stopping here.

turning is between these houses
The next village is Ventourata and from this village you will be taking a right turn to reach Artemis. (After Ventourata is the village of Manganos where there is a greengrocers store, minimarket and petrol station). Half way between Ventourata and Manganos, on the right is the road leading to Artemis.

old ruins on left
This road is marked by some ruins on your left, a circular mirror on the right and, either side of the road are white houses, one with green shutters and one with blue shutters. Travel 2 kms along this road which is in a rural area and passes a few crumbling remains of old stone houses and may have goats across its pathway. Follow this tarmac road until you come to a fork. Take the right hand fork (the left hand fork is a dead end). NB Since the photo of the ruined building was taken, they have started renovation work on it so it is now more built up.

miror is just in front of the house

Follow this road which changes from tarmac to white stones until the next fork in the road. Take the left hand fork which leads downhill and follow this road until it ends at the Artemis which is a stone house with gated private parking. This road ends at the Artemis. Drive very slowly and take great care as the stony road is narrow and uneven.
