Villas in Katelios

The three detached private villas with pools are close to the sea at Katelios. Each is nautically named and has its own character whilst sharing the same stunning setting with sea views from the balconies and terraces and mountain and village views from the rear of the property.

Each of the two-storey villas is laid out in similar fashion with split level entrance offering a rear entrance into the upper floor and ground floor entry from the front of the property which opens out onto the terrace and pool area.

Villa interiors

The villas each have 3 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a double bed, en-suite bathroom and two balconies. The twin room has en-suite bathroom and one balcony and the third bedroom, with en-suite bathroom, is split into two separate chambers, each one with a single bed.

On the ground floor the front door opens into a very large sitting room with comfortable settees and homely fireplace. There is a TV and DVD player. Through an alcove there is a separate study room with internet access.

On the ground floor, a hallway leads past the shower/wc room which houses the washing machine, to the large kitchen and dining room.

French windows lead from the kitchen out onto the terrace. The kitchen is fully equipped with full cooker, large fridge-freezer, dishwasher, kettle, microwave oven and toaster.

The dining room is within this open-plan kitchen with large dining table and chairs.

Katelios Location

Kato Katelios is a seaside village with a sand and shingle beach and is 24 kms from the island's capital of Argostoli.

From Katelios you may hire a small motor boat for exploring beaches such as Koroni and other more inaccessible beaches. Katelios is also famous for its fresh fish tavernas and if you like fishing, you can catch your own!

This rural setting is a paradise for lovers of nature so if you enjoy walking, discovering rare plants and birds, then bring some comfortable shoes and follow the local footpaths. There is much of interest to explore locally - from the local wine estate in Mavrata famous for its Robolla, the Sissia Monastery and church of the Virgin of the Snakes which are all fairly local.

The location of Katelios is very uncommercialised, the largest number of visitors being the loggerhead turtles. If you are interested in the protection of the caretta caretta turtles who love the sandy beaches in the area, take a visit to the Katelios Environmental group who have set up a small museum and information centre.

The local bus service runs from Katelios to Skala and along the coastal road to Poros or in the other direction to Argostoli.

Okeanis Villa

Okeanis is a detached villa which has a large swimming pool in front of the property. Spacous terraces surround the pool area with a separate BBQ area.

The ancient Greeks believed that Okeanos was the world-ocean - an enormous river encircling the flat world. In the Iliad, when Odysseus prayed to 'the great Sea-god who girdles the world', he prayed to Okeanos who ruled the seas before Poseidon. Okeanis is the name of a nymph daughter of Okeanos.

Okeanis Villa offers superb views of the ocean from its balconies and terraces. The sea front of Katelios with its small marina and cluster of fish tavernas is just a short walk away.

The photo shows the side view of Okeanis with the peak of 'eagles nest' on the lower slopes of Mount Ainos behind the villa.

Water nymphs will enjoy relaxing on the spacious paved terraces around the pool, looking out across the endless sea.

Poseidonia Villa

Poseidonia detached villa stands completely on its own at the front of the estate with steps leading up to the front and side entrances. Paved terraces surround the property and it has a large swimming pool to the side of the villa.

In Greek mythology, when the world was divided into three, Poseidon received the sea. He was recognised as 'mover of the earth and barren sea' god of the deep sea, tamer of horses and a saviour of ships. When he was in a good mood the trydant-waving Poseidon created new islands and offered calm seas. He also fathered a lot of children.

The Poseidonia Villa offers wonderful views of the ocean and coastline from its balconies and terraces - magical but not mythical.

Atlantis Villa

Atlantis Villa is a 3-bedroom villa with huge terraces, large pergola and table on which to share a feast with a separate BBQ area, swimming pool and jacuzzi. The very spacious private grounds surrounding the villa offer scenic views from every angle.

The famous Greek philosopher Plato described his Atlantis as an island in the Atlantic, home to Poseidon who created a dwelling on a hillside surrounded by water. To the north were mountains soaring to the skies and he describes villages with lakes and rivers.

The Villa Atlantis has mountains reaching 1628 metres as a backdrop and the sea is just a few minutes' walk away with views along the coastline to Mounda's sandy beaches and across the ocean to the island of Zakynthos.
