 - Martinis Villas in Fiscardo - Members - Kefalonia Travel Guide
In the late sixties, an Irish couple, Alec and Beatrice Reid visited Fiscardo and fell in love with it instantly, so much so, that they decided to buy a piece of land and build a house there. The local village folk welcomed them and adopted them into their friendly community. The house took them ten years to build and their fascination with the place and their true and unusual adventure is now contained in a book titled ￿Leaves from a Greek Village'.

The house they built is no longer there but using virtually the same foundations three small independent one room villas have been built by the present owners. Comparisons with sketches in the book show a remarkable similarity with the layout of the original house, instead of the three rooms that formed the original property there are now three small independent villas. From their elevated position just above the shoreline, the three villas boast glorious views out to sea and to Ithaca just across the aquamarine waters. A ten minute walk (700 metres) will bring you to the main harbour area of Fiscardo with its numerous tavernas and small shops. Quiet coves and small beaches are within a similar radius of the property and such centrally, yet quietly, located properties are not common. To make your stay even more enjoyable, there is a swimming pool to the front for guests exclusive use.
The lower placed of the three villas is open plan and consists of a spacious room with twin beds, a kitchenette in one corner and a dining area in the other. The entrance is off a large side terrace and french doors from the room lead to a private balcony with magnificent sea views. The en-suite bathroom with bath is also quite spacious.
The other two villas are slightly set back and the interior in each, consists of a sitting room and separate twin bedroom. The bathrooms have a shower and the entrance to each villa is from a private front balcony/terrace with equally stunning sea views.
A very desirable small group of villas, air-conditioned and ideal for two adults or a couple with one child. The path up to the property (approx 70 metres) is fairly steep so we do not recommend these villas for those with walking difficulties.
