Silo Apartments with Pool in Lassi

In a secluded position near a small pine forest the 28 contemporary apartments are set in flowered gardens with olive trees and the last remaining vineyard in Lassi.

The apartments are in separate two-storey buildings and the first floor apartments have french windows leading from the bedroom area out onto the balcony with table and chairs and views across the Lassi coastline. The ground floor apartments open out onto a terrace with garden views.

The Silo Apartments have their own swimming pool with sunloungers and shades provided free of charge for their guests. Their sister property Thalassa Hotel has another swimming pool close by. The pools are set in a secluded area amidst lawned gardens, flowers and olive trees.

The Silo apartments are spacious apartments for two persons with a sofa-bed for the third person. A fourth person, preferably a child can be accommodated on a camp-bed.

For a larger family or group of friends the studios have inter-connecting doors to create a larger apartment.

The kitchen is fitted with sink, small fridge, hob with cooking rings, kettle and toaster.

The Silo Apartment owners are very caring about nature and the environment and produce organically grown food and home made wine from their own vineyard. The Silo Apartments offer their guests carefully prepared snacks and light meals using the produce from their own gardens. The snack bar is open for breakfast and lunches.

At the Silo there is a small mini-market to buy essential provisions for your self-catering and offers a selection of souvenirs.

The Silo Apartments offer a choice of beaches nearby. The closest beach is Paleo Stafida, fondly known as 'Antonio's' as Antonio offers sunbeds and sunloungers for hire on the beach. The Paleo Stafida is great for children with shallow water, sandy beach and a small snack bar nearby. Stunning views of the whole coast are seen as you walk from your apartment to Paleo Stafida beach which is little more than 100 metres away.

The better known and longer stretches of sandy beach which offer water-sports are Makris Yialos and Platis Yialos. It's a lovely walk from Silo to the beach along a narrow track near the aromatic pine trees. The distance is around 200 metres to the beginning of Makris Yialos. Bring a torch if you return after dark.

The Silo Apartments are in a quiet and secluded area of Lassi between the beaches. A short walk along the lanes will bring you to the 'Lassi Strip' with its selection of supermarkets, bars and tavernas. From Lassi a few minutes' taxi ride takes you into Argostoli which is 2 kms from Lassi.

My husband and I stayed at Silo for 2 weeks in May 2008 and loved every minute of it. The rooms are a bit better than you normally get self catering in Greece and were cleaned 5 times a week. There are 2 lovely pools that you can use if you can raise yourself off the sunbed and there was never a problem getting a lounger. We also spent a few days on the beach, beautiful sand, comfy beds well spaced out, though a little pricey at 8 euros (for 2 beds & parasol). There are a couple of beaches within easy walking distance of Silo. The main road of Lassi with all the bars and tavernas is about a 10 minute walk away. We liked the location of the studios - not too much of a walk to the beach or the tavernas but far enough way from the hustle and bustle to be very peaceful. Other things to mention about the studios: there is a little supermarket which is handy so you don't have to carry bottles of water very far and you can order fresh bread for the morning and also a snack bar that serves food/drink. The food is homemade and totally gorgeous, can't recommend it highly enough! Homemade chips - yum! The only thing that could have been better at Silo was the sunbeds - there seemed to be one "rung" that managed to dig in your back no matter what!! :) Eating out is pretty stress free, most of the places we went to served nice enough food. One's that stand out are: Zorba's is good entertainment, Butler's House is a nice place and the waiters were very friendly, the Chinese Dragon down the Finari Rd is definitely worth the walk and Monte Nero has a bit more of a restaurant feel to it if you're celebrating. And of course Silo studios! Trentis bar is a lovely place to sit and have a pre-dinner drink while watching the sun go down. We went on 2 trips organised by Thomson. The day trip to Ithaca was a really nice day out, a lot of it spent on the boat with a couple of swim stops and a couple of stops on Ithaca. Ithaca is beautiful though wouldn't want to stay there myself, quiet even for us! We also went on the Sunset Delight which gave you half an hour in Ag. Efimia before a boat trip up to Fiskardo where you can have dinner before getting the coach back to resort. Longer in Fiskardo would've been nice but it was a great night overall. In summary we had a fantastic time, it was everything we wanted and we'll definitely be going back.
